Every night you write

Every night you write upside down and inside out and sideways, you write on top, and in between, and in the middle, you write with a casual observer’s eye, and you write inside a fire, you write the story of your life that never was and the tiger on your shoulder licking your neck and waiting for the delicious bones of legends, you write old houses and the railroad tracks at the bottom of the town where everything eventually leaves for other worlds, you write the I and the me and the others, the characters who come to you with their arms open, you write the staggering drunk conscience of the human race and you write the limping ant in his disappearing tiny cosmos, you write the entrails of feasts, you write parallel sagas of translucent galaxies broken by the storm of your advancing curiosity, you write until the dawn, and then you take up your weapons and walk out into the street of androids who collaborate on the lower rungs of the Syndicate.

    Awesome…now your banging it out.
It true though Jon…one minute you could wearing an onion as a hat, and the next thing ya know your in a village of onions fighting against the bastards that kidnap…sorry…onionnap your fellow villagers and turn them into onion hats.

I love to dream, I do my best work there. I think.
How come everytime I dream of painting a painting. Its better that I can paint in real life. It’s always that much more. Most of my ideas come from there. The dream painting becomes a living thing. It breathes, and you feel it’s heartbeat.
That is what I try to make happen in real life.
    But I never succeed.

I know what you are feeling. I’m experiencing the same thing with the script of my soap opera. In my head, in my dream, this is the most powerful and funny soap ever written. It’s absolutely genius! But when it is time to write a daily episode, I don’t seem to be able to put words on it. No kidding! I’m completely speechless. Can’t find a single word that would even come close to what I imagine. But in my thoughts its so clear and very real, I’m not kidding!

What I would need, is a good comedy writer who could read my mind and translate it into words. Of course that doesn’t exist. So I’m a bit paralysed with all that scenario right now. In my head, it’s doing fine, in real life, it’s doing miserably…lol

But, I’ll keep working on it. If I ever capitulate, I will at least try to find some skilled people who would be interested in the idea. I could coach them about what I want it to be. Sort of an association.

Jon, you blow me away every times I read one of your posts. You write so
well. I wish that I would have your skill.

    Anyway, I’ll try one… don’t laugh.
    Here it is:

Every night you write to clean the blackboard of your mind of all the confusing abstract figures meaning everything and nothing to you.

You write about the fragile little flower who could find its way trough a cement sidewalk and about the hungry caterpillar, who has 6 eyes on each side of its head, but couldn’t avoid being crashed into the same sidewalk by an insensible boot belonging to a sensitive blind man.

You write sand castles, house of cards that the Elites built for you.
You write hurricanes who could blow them away. You write destructing thunderstorms and you feel the electrical lightning in your brain and regain hope for Humanity. You write, waterfalls, rivers, streams, rain, knowing that they will make it to the sea.

“You write until the dawn, and walk out into the street”, reassured, knowing that water is the most powerful element on Earth.

    • From Québec says:

Little correction. I should have said “destructive thunderstorms” and not “destructing” thunderstorms… lol. My bad!

  4. I love this piece and all the comments.

The world of playing in the right side of the brain is new to me. My practice of shamanism was always hampered by the left side’s being overworked by long days of engineering, and the difficulty I have in switching from one task, one world, to another. Now that I’ve left engineering, I’m learning to breath, relax, let the thinking go and allow imagination and creativity to flow.

Taken literally, this “Every night you write” image is disturbing. I’m suffering from lack of sleep. I feel awful all day. Then, as bedtime nears, my energy picks up. I may write all night. I’ve been fighting it. Is this the way it’s gonna be?

Welcome Rosalie into the world of the outlaws of the Matrix.

So you are a night person. Nothing wrong with that. I’ve always found it hard to get up in the morning to go to work. When I finally quit working, I changed my whole schedule around. Now, I fall asleep at 4:00 am and get up at noon. I’ve been feeling fine since.

I suspect that this famous and prolific author below, must have also been a night person:

“My trouble is insomnia. If I had always slept properly, I’d never have written a line.” ― Louis Ferdinand Céline.

Anyway, I’m glad you are here. I’m sure many people read this site but don’t post comment because either they don’t really know what to say or how to say it.
      That’s a mistake.

It doesn’t matter whether the comment is brilliant or goofy. Who’s to say? We are all a bit crazy here anyway, but in a good way. And as far as I am concerned, no one could do worse than I do.

Imagine that: Most of the times, I don’t even have a single clue about what Jon is writing about. So I read his text, and read it, and read it, 5 or 6 times in a row. Then I let go and do something else. And then in the middle of a commonplace occupation , like washing the dishes for instance, out of nowhere an idea pops up in my mind.

So, I rush to my computer, leaving behind whatever I was doing, strongly determined to not let this sudden inspiration from an unknown cosmic energy floating around, pass me by.

Then I think my text in French, but write it directly in English, a language that I am far from mastering. Quite a challenge! Sometimes it comes out good, sometimes it doesn’t. Who cares?

This is a site to practice and acquired some skills. A place to let loose your creativity and let your imagination go wild. The best place to learn from the best of teachers.
